Series five was some of the hardest things on television I've ever had to sit through, seeing Elisabeth Sladen so full of life and more beautiful than ever, knowing that this would be it, that Sarah Jane would be around no more. It was all leading up to the end of an iconic companion, and I almost didn't watch. It was still too raw, but I did it. I made the effort, and I'm so glad I did. Once again, the stories were top notch, and everyone was still as fantastic as normal. Mina Anwar, Ace Bhatti, Jocelyn Jee Esien, Floella Benjamin... the unsung heroes of The Sarah Jane Adventures who could hold their own up against Lis Sladen. I'm glad we had five extra series featuring Sarah Jane. As Katy Manning so rightly said, she was the quintessential Who girl, and I'm so grateful for RTD and BBC Wales for allowing a new generation to fall in love.

Series four was a very bittersweet season for me. The Sarah Jane Adventures was growing the beard. It was dark, it was fantastically plotted, and, dare I say it, better than it's parent, even though I did love Doctor Who that year. It makes me sad that, as the series was finally defining itself, it was cut tragically short. Series four was by far my favourite, and had some of the best stories in the Whoniverse (singling out Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith here...)

I would like to welcome Jenna-Louise Coleman to the Doctor Who family. I'm very open minded about how her character will turn out, and it is Steven Moffat, I have the utmost faith in him. He did create the rather awesome Lynda Day, after all.

It's no secret to anybody that I found The Sarah Jane Adventures the far superior spin-off of Doctor Who, in part due to it's almost Classic-Who feel, and in part to the outstanding performances given by everybody in the cast (especially Elisabeth Sladen, but that goes without saying...). Here is my tribute to that little series that managed to enthrall a generation, and gave them - and us - the gift of Elisabeth Sladen and Sarah Jane Smith...

So, here it is. 2012. Let us hope that this year is a better one than the last. Just in case, we need to kidnap the surviving Who cast and wrap them up in cotton wool, just to keep them safe.

2012 looks to be an awesome year, however. More Hex from Big Finish, new Tom Baker adventures, and more Jago and Litefoot, which is rather amazing and features Oscar Wilde. What else could you want?

Anyway, I made these icons at the tail end of 2011. These are only some of a large batch, the rest of which will be posted at a later date.

A few days before Elisabeth Sladen's tragic, untimely death, I made icons for both The Time Warrior and Death of the Doctor. I've been deciding what to do with them. Post, or not. So I will post them, in memory of Elisabeth Sladen, and the character she brought to life so perfectly. Goodbye Lis.

I'm in shock. Complete and utter shock.

How can one post be so hard to write? She was too young. Too young at all to die.

Elisabeth Sladen, may you rest in peace. You were just perfect.

Just a small tribute to Nicholas Courtney, who played Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures. A fantastic, charming, talented actor who will be sadly missed.
So I've made a few icons.

[1-17] Doctor Who: The Three Doctors
[18-38] Doctor Who: Inferno
[39-54] Doctor Who: Mawdryn Undead
[55-64] Doctor Who: Battlefield

So, I've been doing a LOT of screencapping over the last two weeks or so. Every episode of Press Gang, quite a few Doctor Who, Pride & Prejudice, Torchwood, ect. And guess what? I've made a whole lot of icons. Not very good, I'm afraid, but they're here.
Also, my NaNo entries going really well. When I started, it was a simple novel about teenagers and their relationships that was partially inspired by the masterpeice that is Press Gang. Now it's full of danger, undercover investigations that are almost camper than John Inman and a lot of romatic relationships, inspired by Press Gang. Ethel's still there though. And he's still as confused as ever.

Anyway, on to the icons!

[64] The Sarah Jane Adventures icons (Death of the Doctor)
[48] Press Gang icons (Shouldn't I Be Taller?)
[48] Pride & Prejudice [1995] icons
[36] Doctor Who [2005] icons (Silence in the Library)
[36] Doctor Who [1963] icons (Time and the Rani)
[32] Torchwood icons (Children of Earth)
[24] Sherlock icons (A Study in Pink)

[40] The Sarah Jane Adventures - Secrets of the Stars

Day 09 - Best scenes ever

DOCTOR WHO

I couldn't choose just one scene, so I chose two of the best from the new series...

This one because it has some really gret acting, especially from Lis Sladen who outperforms everybody. And it's so dramatic it's awesome.

This one because it's so feel good and epic. It's great to see all New Who companions together, flying the TARDIS the way it should be flown.

So, I did have some Press Gang icons, but I can't remember where I saved them, so they'll be in the next update. Anyway, this update is all Doctor Who related...
